Myles Martin Weekly Alumni Report for August 14

The Intermediate Cup went down last weekend in Burlington where our Beach Women took on the Burlington Centaurs. The Beach women have been dominating the league by absolutely analating everyone in their path this season. Unfortunately the winning streak came to an end last Saturday. The women come out strong by playing their game with sharp lines and dominate set pieces which lead to points on the board. Burlington didn’t go away and stormed back with some big plays from their number 8. The women fought hard but the game was slowly slipping away as Burlington continued to score from the pressure they put on the Blue and Gold. The women lose Burlington 57 – Beach 29. Congratulations, it was a phenomenal season.

This week we will be hosting Oshawa at home. This is a pivotal game for our athletes so we need all the support we can get.

11:00 Balmy Beach 3s vs Oshawa Vikings 3s – Tubs and Gee Gage
14:00 Balmy Beach 2s vs Oshawa Vikings 2s – Tubs and Gee Gage
15:30 Balmy Beach 1s vs Oshawa Vikings 1s – Tubs and Gee Gage
15:30 Vaughan Yeomen 1s vs Balmy Beach 3s – St. Jean de Brebeuf CHS

TRU Mens vs Lindsay RFC – 3:30pm 67 Vince Jones Rd (Lindsay)

—-

TRU Mens started the afternoon with a 12:30pm kickoff against the Vaughan Yeoman because Burlington 3 forfeited their game. The Blue and Gold got out to an early lead and the boys looked good heading into the half. The second half saw some handling errors and some unnecessary penalties that changed the outcome of this game. The beach come up short Yeoman 36 – Beach 24

The Beach 2s were next to take the field in front of the Blue and Gold faithful against Burlington. It was a great game from the opening kick off. Big hits, big runs and domination in every set piece. When Burlington had possession, there was simply too much pressure to get anything going. Beach take this one. Beach 33 – Burlington 19

Feeding off the energy from a dominant 2s performance, the 1s were looking to follow suit. The boys looked good by scoring early and often. Defense was the best it has been all season. There was definitely a spark and everything simply clicked. Beach win big 31- 7

The Beach Women started their playoff run on the road in Niagara vs the Wasps on route to the Intermediate Cup. Here, there, it doesn’t matter. The ladies ruined Niagara’s cup run by letting the league know we’re serious. Its the same ol song but I love to keep it on repeat. The Beach win again 38-19.

No games this weekend due to the Civic Holiday.
