If you didn’t know, the Balmy Beach Rugby Club, the largest and most successful club in Canada is Celebrating it’s 70th Anniversary in 2025.
The festivities are set for June 2025! Here you will find all the information you need to know about events, ways you can contribute, and any other important details.
Space is limited for BOTH the Gala Dinner and Golf Tourney, so send your payments in early to claim your spot!

EVENTS

GALA DINNER SOLD OUT
Tickets for our Gala Dinner are sold out. If you wish to get on a waiting list, in case there are cancellations, please contact Gerry Allen by email: gd_allen@hotmail.com or call him at 416-698-2130.
On Wednesday, June 4th, we will be having a Gala Dinner at the Balmy Beach Club.
The dinner will consist of a 3 course meal with the highlight being a delicious Cornish hen.
The evening will feature good looking people, lots of laughs and a guest speaker.
Cocktail hour begins at 6:00PM, seating at 7:00PM, dinner will be served at 7:15PM. Dress code is business casual, NO CLEATS ALLOWED!
GOLF TOURNAMENT
On Thursday, June 5th, the BBC Rugby Alumni will be hosting a golf tournament at Riverside Golf Course.
Riverside Golf Club is a championship 9-hole golf course nestled on 54 acres in the heart of Pickering Village. Playing 2895 yards in length, the course features three par threes, four par fours, and two par fives, that will surely test the athleticism of even the finest BBC athletes.
A day of golf and laughs is only $125, and includes course fees, lunch, transportation, and refreshments.
There is a bus taking golfers to Riverside Golf Club that will leave the Balmy Beach Club at 7:45AM. Tee-off shotgun start at 9:00AM.

BALMY OLD BOYS DEBUT
The Balmy Old Boys Rugby Team will have its inaugural game on the evening of Thursday, June 5th at Tubs & Gee Gage Field versus Oakville. Kick off is at 7:00PM.
The BOBs is an over 35 team, social team, where this is no coaching, no practices, rolling subs, and where we play at two speeds – slow and slower. There will be more games throughout the summer and fall.
This is your chance to rage against the dying of the light! If you’re interested in playing against Oakville or other games with the BOBs, please contact Chris Hewitt at bobs@balmybeachrugby.com.
PUB NIGHT
From your glory days playing with the Blue and Gold, you may recall that peak performance on any Saturday required proper hydration.
On Friday June 6th, The BBC Rugby Alumni have organized a pub night at the Balmy Beach Club.
We encourage you all to come down to the club, order your favourite beverage and reminisce about games past. Festivities start at 7:00PM.


CLUB DAY
The culmination of the 70th Anniversary will be marked by Club Day on Saturday June 7th, and feature 4 senior men’s games and 1 women’s game.
All 5 games will take place at Tubs & Gee Gage Field. The first game of the day is at 10:00AM and the last one starts at 4:30PM. For all game times, head to our Fixtures Page.
Tropical South Food Truck will be selling delicious Cuban sandwhiches and other tasty items, and Radical Road Brewery will be providing thirst-quenching adult beverages.
Make your way to the top of the hill and find the Alumni Peanut Gallery, captained by Kevin Quinn.

We now have a lovely selection of merchandise for sale. These items will be for sale at the Gala Dinner and at the field on Club Day.

Do you have any photo albums in attic, or photos stored on a hard drive, or wonderful memories about teammates from seasons past?
The anniversary planning committee is putting together an archive of photos and stories. We would be forever grateful if you would send us any photos or stories you have. If you don’t have digital copies, please contact us and we will find a way to make sure your photos are added to our archive.

CAN ANYONE ATTEND THESE EVENTS?
Anyone who has purchased a ticket to Gala Dinner or Golf Tournament may attended each respective event.
Anyone may attend the Pub Night at the Balmy Beach Club (there is a $20 cover fee).
Anyone may attend Club Day at Tubs & Gee Gage Field.
HOW CAN I BUY A TICKET TO THE GALA DINNER?
Gala Dinner tickets are $100 for one ticket and $160 per couple. You can pay for your ticket using e-transfer and sending your payment to beachrugby70th@gmail.com (please indicate the payment is for the Gala Dinner in the e-transfer memo section).

HOW CAN I BUY A TICKET TO THE PUB NIGHT?
There will be a $20 cover fee for the Balmy Beach Club Pub Night. There are no tickets being sold ahead of time for the Pub Night. There is a capacity limit of 250 guests.
DO I NEED A BBC MEMBERSHIP TO ENTER THE CLUBHOUSE?
No membership is required to enter the club on the evening of the Gala or Pub Night as long as you have purchased a ticket/entry fee.
Anyone is permitted in to the club after the games on Club Day. However, there is a capacity limit of 250 guests.
