2015 McCormick Cup – “Änother Beach Double”
On a wet, sort of chilly, Oct 25, the Beach versus the Scottish reoccurs. A repeat of 2014, both Beach 1’s and 2’s!
Beach 2’s have reached true playoff form and despite a slow start, eventually overwhelm the Scottish in a well played Gee Gage Cup Final at Fletcher’s. In honour of Eric Shannon, who survived a most incredible life and death situation earlier in the year, the 2’s are victorious.
Beach 1’s come out a second time winner as well despite more harrowing conditions and a very spirited and determined Scottish side. It is very pleasant of them to provide such lovely musical entertainment for our Championships! The Blue and Gold start fast with a couple of terrific tries by Dan moor and Conor McCann. Conor’s kicking was also an asset. The Scottish worked their way back into the match but alas not quite enough, as Beach prevails 27-15.
NOTE: This double double came on the heels of a very exciting, last play victory by our Academy squad over the bay Street Pigs to bring home the TRU Premier Championship in August! A fantastic season!!
