Welcome to the Balmy Beach RFC! We are one of Canada’s oldest, largest and most successful grassroots rugby clubs. The Balmy Beach RFC constists of 4 men’s teams, 1 women’s team, and youth teams for boys and girls from Under-8’s up to Under-18’s, and an alumni section.

Established in 1955, Balmy Beach Rugby Rugby Club has a long and storied history in the Toronto and Ontario rugby communities. We are a progressive club whose members have gone on to feature for Canada and teams around the world.

Serving Toronto’s Leslieville and Beaches neighbourhoods, Balmy Beach Rugby Club runs programs for players ages 6-50+. Our programs prioritize strong fundamentals, fun, and a love of the game at all stages of life.

Balmy Beach Alumni are a key component of our Club and remain engaged with our section long after their playing days end. For more information on their activities, head to the Alumni section of our site.

Balmy Beach Rugby Senior Men’s section is tied for the winningest club in Ontario Rugby history, boasting a remarkable 13 McCormick Cups, and 4 Carling Cups, the highest honour for a Senior Men’s team in the province.

As a club, our objective is to develop and empower players of all ages to go on to long and successful rugby careers, whether they be playing, coaching, or officiating.

Balmy Beach Rugby welcomes new and experienced players of all ages, genders and abilities.

SENIOR RUGBY

Registration for the 2025 Summer season is NOW OPEN!

The Balmy Beach RFC is the most successful rugby organization in Ontario.

During the 2024 Season, the Balmy Beach RFC comprised of 4 men’s teams and 1 women’s team.

The season runs from May until August or September. We practice and play home games at Tubs & Gee Gage Field, in the east end of Toronto. The Senior Women practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the Senior Men practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games are on Saturdays.

 

JUNIOR RUGBY

Minis Registration for the 2025 season is NOW OPEN

Registration for the 2025 Summer season is open for girls and boys U6 to U12.

An incredible rugby program that starts with flag rugby at U6 and runs to U18. There are girls and boys squads from U14 to U18. All players are welcome!

You can find more information about the various age groups and coaching staff in our Junior Rugby section.

Practices run twice weekly starting in May, with festivals and matches across the GTA throughout the summer.

Holiday Auction Sat Dec 7th – A reminder that the Balmy Beach Holiday Auction and Market will be held at the club on Saturday December 7th. This is a big fundraiser for the section and all proceeds goes towards jerseys, field permits, goal post pads and much much more. Hope to see you there.

Although the rugby season has come to an end, the rugby section is still working hard to produce one of their most important events of the year, the annual holiday market and auction. Here is a note from Kirstin. If you are interested in helping or donating, please feel free to contact her at bonomok@gmail.com.

Hello Alumni – Hope you were all able to make it to the amazing game last week and get an opportunity to see the boys fight to secure a spot in the McCormick Cup Final this weekend. The holidays are fast upon us! What better way to get ready for Christmas and the Holidays then to get your shopping done at our Annual Holiday Auction Saturday December 7th from 4:00 – 7:00. This is one of our key fundraisers for the year. We are looking for support in different ways and hope that one may appeal to you!

1) Donations: Most importantly – right now, we need items donated. This can be a gift basket you make or get donated from a company, sporting tickets, gift certificates, weekend to a cottage, artwork, sports memorabilia, kids baskets, etc.

2) Be or get a local business to purchase a table – at the local vendor’s market. This event will allow them to sell their own items throughout the entire auction during the busy holiday season. The table fee is $125 (please have vendor’s fill out the donation form with applicable info and we will contact them)

3) Donate or Get a Donations for the Booze Basket – (we sell raffle tickets on the night & this is a huge way to raise money on the day of. We typically raise over a $1,000+ from this alone.

4) Promote: – Put posters up in your local businesses, close to where you live. This is an open event to the public – Bring family and friends!

5) Social Media: – Post & re-post on Instagram, Facebook etc. and encourage people to attend the event – we need people to attend the event to buy, buy, buy!

Jerry Declute – It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Gerry Declute. Gerry’s celebration of life will be Thursday December 5 from 2pm to 5pm at the Balmy Beach Club. A great man who loved Beach Rugby.  Gerry’s Newspaper Notice.
