The Beach took on their nemesis the Scottish last weekend in a must win situation for both the 2XV and 1XV. How did we do?
The 2XV – took to the pitch first and were on fire from the opening kickoff. Tough defense and taking advantage of the Scottish miscues led to a flood of scoring opportunities resulting in a 33-7 lead at the half. The Scottish had nothing on this day. Final score 45-21.
The 1XV – also came out hot playing some great defense. There was a huge goal line stand within the first 10 mins. We recovered the goal line drop and marched the length of the field resulting in a great try. By the end of the first half we were up 7-0. The second half opened with another score from the Beach and extending the score to 14-0. At one point we were up 21-0 but the final score ended up being 24-10.
This Saturday the men take on Oakville at home in another must win situation. This is also the last game of the regular season.
2XV – 2pm
1XV – 3:30pm
The BBOBs – The Balmy Beach Old Boys (BBOBs) are also back in action this weekend as defending champions of the Niagara Old Boys Tournament. The tournament is at Burlington RFC and kickoff is 9:40am. The BBOBs first game is 10:15am.
