Friday night lights saw our athletes make their way across the city to Mississauga to take on the Blues. It was a close match as the see-saw battle saw both teams exchange tries and goal kicks. The Beach held onto a slim lead late into the second half but a costly penalty quickly turned the tide in Mississauga’s favour. The Blues were able to convert the penalty into points as time ran out. Beach 3 – 29 Mississauga – 32
The pesky Waterloo County team did not make it easy for our guys to play the open flowing style of rugby we are used to. With the Waterloo faithful cheering enthusiastically from the sideline, we found ourselves in a fight. A bruising game upfront and lockdown defense in the backs from both sides, it’s hard to believe any points were scored. We found a way to stave off the homeside taking the game . Beach 2 – 36 Waterloo – 35
The women travelled to Barrie to show them how to win. The women do what they do best by dominating scrums and lineouts to create clean ball for our backs to carve up their defense with precision lines. This deadly formula led to yet another win Beach Women – 29 Barrie – 19
The Beach 1s took to the field at 4pm seeking revenge from a week 1 loss to Waterloo. The Blue and gold started off strong showing dominance in the scrums and lineouts and keeping Waterloo on their backfoot. Multi phased attacks seemed to confuse the County which led to penalties. The Beach took advantage of these mistakes and put points on the board. Unfortunately this was short lived and Waterloo were able to regroup and apply pressure on the Beach. Some well placed kicks from their flyhalf and applied pressure made it difficult to stage any counter attacks. Waterloo wins big, Beach 1 – 12 Waterloo – 62
