Beach ORU II VS Peterborough II 55-5 – Not much to report here. As is typical lately for the ORU 2’s this game was never really in doubt and was a total domination. Forwards crushed the opposition pack and set up a bunch of opportunities for our backs to pull out some fancy moves and dot down some big tries. On to the next one.
Beach ORU I VS Peterborough I 40-21 – This game started out with a bang and beach pumped in quick successive try’s in the first half to put us up 28-0 at half time. Peterborough struck first in the second half to make the score 28-7. Unfortunately at the 55 minute mark star outside center Leigh Keegel suffered a significant head knock requiring ambulance attention, and the game was paused for until he could receive this attention. For anyone in attendance it was a harrowing situation while physio’s and paramedics worked to ensure Leigh’s safety, however I am pleased to let everyone know that he is okay. Leigh was assessed and released from hospital later that evening. We wish Leigh a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field when he is ready. Peterborough used this break in play to regather themselves and put in two quick scores to pull the game to within 7 points. With the score going into the last 10min now 28-21 with Beach the pressure was mounting when Captain Jason Park took the ball into his own hands dotting one down in the corner to pull ahead 35-21. Fortunately another quick score moments later sealed the deal 40-21.
